Brazil's Comparative Advantages and Specialization Dynamics in Agri-food Trade

In the last decades Brazil has become a global agri-food powerhouse. The article interrogates shape and its stability of revealed comparative advantages in 46 products for period 1995-2017. results support argument that Brazil's trade was formed by specific sectors. show external specialization strengthened, first since early 2000s second when shifted more towards China. pattern stable according (dis)advantage particular products, changes occurred each product's score ranking products. Products without initial advantage seem to remain uncompetitive whilst with strong continue be competitive. persistence distribution increased. This suggests, evolved finite structure (ceteris paribus).
